Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Scheme:- Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Scheme was launched by the Rajasthan government to empower women in the state and improve their digital literacy. This program gives free smartphones to women and girls in Rajasthan. The scheme, which will provide smartphone internet access to the female head of the Chiranjeevi household, was announced in the Prime Minister’s budget announcement. The Indira Gandhi Yojana smartphone will be launched on August 10, 2023. As part of this program, Chiranjeevi women including girls from classes 9 to 12 and college students are also being distributed smartphones. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot launched the Indira Gandhi Yojana smartphone to provide internet connectivity to the women heads of the Chiranjeevi family. As part of the program, the smartphones will be distributed to the women of the Chiranjeevi family, including students of classes 9-12 as well as girls attending college and other high schools. The Government of Rajasthan will implement this program from 10 August 2023. Mobilization expands the digital knowledge of girl students and gives peace of mind to girls who come to study remotely as they have a mobile connection to their home school. An accessible internet facility for three years is also provided along with the mobile phones given under this program.
The government organizes mobile distribution camps in various phases. The rajasthan government will distribute smartphones to more than 3 crore wives and daughters. The SIM-connected smartphones will be available to the beneficiaries through private and public companies as well as mobile operators providing telecom services. According to the plan of the government, in the first phase, from April 10, the distribution of smartphones will be done by setting up camps at the district and quarterly levels.
